Once a policy is introduced, it should be routinely reviewed to ensure that the goals of the policy are being met. As a public health professional, that is one of your tasks. Select a public health policy in your community and evaluate it. Some examples might be mask mandates for COVID-19 prevention, mandated reporting of select diseases, or implemented environmental policies to increase physical activity.Instructions
Carefully consider what could be done to improve your chosen policy to make it more effective. In a one-page Word document, write a memo to your local leadership (city or county government) that includes the following:
Evaluation of the policy, including description, strengths, weaknesses, and specific issues associated with the policy
Recommendation for improvement of the policy
- A call to action with next steps for implementing the recommendations
