The speaker of the speech ‘I have a dream,’ Martin Luther King, uses colorful, vivid
language and imagery to deliver his speech, including symbols, slogans, and metaphors. An
example of a symbol in the speech includes the term dream, which symbolizes Luther’s vision
about the future of the Negroes in the United States (YouTube, 2017). The phrase ” I have a
dream ” is also a slogan repeatedly used to amplify Luther’s thoughts about the future of the US,
specifically the Negroes. An example of a metaphor is the ”joyous daybreak to end the long
