Communication Studies as a significant discipline
Communication study is a significant academic discipline dealing with all communication
processes, basically defined as an exchange of verbal and non-verbal messages from one
person to another. Therefore, communication studies deal with the transition of words from a
given point to a specified destination via a medium of exchange, for instance, radio,
telephone extra. Further, communication studies deal with the process involved in given
institutions, like libraries, to maintain messages for a lifetime. There are several disciplines
under communication studies, which include communication science, mass communication
extra. Communication studies mainly insist on the need to reach across all disciplinary
boundaries.
Traditionally, communication studies as a discipline intersect with other scholarly disciplines
such as sociology, psychology extra. The subjects mentioned have formulated theories and
methodologies relevant to communication studies research, thus encouraging learners to enrol
