Below is the link for your last writing assignment. Do you have an opinion already about GMOs? Why? Read the short article about genetically modified organisms (GMOs), then listen to the short video at the bottom and take notes. Pay close attention to the opposing views in the video vs the written article.
After hearing both arguments, consider how you feel about the benefits and/or harm that GMOs offer. Should we grow them? Why or why not? Should we eat them? Why or why not?
Address the issues discussed in each paragraph of the article (GMOs are beneficial, GMOs are safe, GMOs are necessary) and discuss whether you agree with the article’s point of view or the video’s point of view. (You might agree with one issue, but disagree with another… that’s fine! You don’t have to be completely for or completely against all issues of GMOs.). Chapter 14 in your book discusses GMOs, and you’ll find many other sources on the internet if you want more information. You should cite at least one additional source in your paper to support your views (your textbook or another source is fine). Make sure it is a reputable source if you find it on the internet. List that resource at a reference at the end of your paper and be sure to cite it within the paper so I know what information you obtained from the source.
Your paper should be 1-2 pages in length (using 10-12 point font), be organized and include a title, an introduction, 2-3 paragraphs discussing the 3 issues, and a conclusion. Use correct grammar and spelling, as always. This is an opinion paper, so you won’t be graded on that opinion. But you need to back up your opinion with the information in the article, video, and reputable sources you use for your paper.
